CTCA Test
CTCA is a low risk, low radiation dose, non-invasive examination of the coronary arteries. It can accurately detect and grade stenoses or narrowing within the coronary arteries, and demonstrate developmental anomalies of the coronary vessels. It is useful
- If you have chest pain, shortness of breath or exercise
intolerance - If you have an abnormal stress test
- For diagnosing coronary artery disease if symptomatic for CAD or other risk factors such as high blood pressure
- A strong family history of cardiac issues
- As part of a pre-surgery work-up
Withhold caffeine for 24hrs (eg coffee, tea, coke, chocolate). Do not exercise on the day. Fast 4 hours before the procedure. Take your beta blocker with 1L of water 1hr prior to your appt.
